PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a water-containing gel sheet material which improves the yield of the water-containing gel sheet material.SOLUTION: The invention provides a production method of a water-containing gel sheet material comprising forming a water-containing gel layer precursor 201 on a long belt-like substrate sheet 100, and forming two or more water-containing gel sheet materials 10 having water-containing gel layers 2 of a given shape by die cutting from laminated bodies 10B or 10C having the substrate sheet 100 and the water-containing gel layer precursor 201. The production method of the water-containing gel sheet material comprises an applying step 40 of continuously applying the water-containing gel composition 200 along the longitudinal direction of the substrate sheet 100, and forming the water-containing gel layer precursor 201 a die pressing step 50 of die pressing a region S except a region P which becomes the water-containing gel layers 2 in a plane region of laminated bodies 10B or 10C, and pushing the water-containing gel composition 200 which exists between the regions into the region P which becomes the water-containing gel layers 2 which are arranged apart from and adjacent to each other to form the water-containing gel layers 2 and a die cutting step 60 of cutting a laminated body in each die pressed region S to die cut the water-containing gel sheet material 10.
