PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved methods for preparing squalene.SOLUTION: An improved method for preparing squalene from a squalene-containing composition. The method comprises the steps of: (a) purification distillation at a temperature T； (b) denaturation distillation at a temperature T, where the steps (a) and (b) can be carried out in either order, Tand Tare sufficient for boiling squalene； T>；Tand T>；200°C. The method of the invention allows production of products suitable for pharmaceutical applications.
