The present disclosure provides novel compounds that are steviol derivatives. The compounds can generally be characterized by a structure according to Formula I: wherein R1, A1, L1, and G1 are described herein. Also provided is a sweetener composition comprising a compound described herein as either a sweetener or a sweetener enhancer. The compound or sweetener composition can also be included in a product such as a beverage product or a food product so that it is the same in an otherwise identical product that does not include the compound or sweetener composition.
