Also provided is the use of a composition comprising an antimicrobial polypeptide comprising Blad or an active variant thereof to kill, or inhibit the growth of, a microorganism that is pathogenic to a human or an animal at a site that is not on or in the human or animal body.La presente invención se refiere a una composición que comprende un polipéptido antimicrobiano que comprende la secuencia Blad mostrada en la SEC ID NO: 4 o un variante activo del mismo, para usarse en el tratamiento o prevención de una infección en o sobre un sujeto humano o animal por un microorganismo, en donde dicho variante activo tiene actividad antimicrobiana y comprende una secuencia que tienen al menos 70% de identidad de aminoácidos con cualquiera de la SEC ID NO: 4 o un fragmento de la SEC ID NO: 4 que es al menos 100 aminoácidos de longitud.
