PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical acoustic device that can measure the living body characteristic distribution in a deep part of a subject, create image data easy to understand the relationship with the position of a blood vessel, and reduce the impact of the deviation of a measuring position.SOLUTION: An optical acoustic device includes: a light source capable of separately irradiating the light of a first wavelength in which absorption coefficients of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin are the same, and the light of a second wavelength which is different from the first wavelength; an acoustic detector that receives an acoustic wave generated when the light is absorbed by the subject and converts it to an electric signal for the light of the first and second wavelengths respectively; an absorption coefficient distribution creation part for acquiring the absorption coefficient distribution inside the subject using the electric signal; a blood vessel position specification part for specifying a blood vessel position from the absorption coefficient distribution of the first wavelength; a living body characteristic distribution creation part for acquiring the living body characteristic distribution from the absorption coefficient distribution of the light of the first and second wavelengths; and a trimming part for trimming the living body characteristic distribution according to the specified blood vessel position.
