The invention relates to a process for the recovery of phototrophic organisms, wherein phototrophic organisms and an aqueous medium are filled in transparent containers that are at least temporarily exposed to an artificial illumination, wherein the existing in the containers substances sources of carbon and nutrients are added or, the containers are subjected to a movement during the cultivation of the phototrophic organisms and at least a part of the existing substances in the containers and removed for harvesting of the phototrophic organisms from the containers then the phototrophic organisms to be separated. The containers are transported past during the culturing by means of a conveyor to artificial light sources.
