A cat litter sieving system comprises a litter handler convertible between anopencontainer configuration, a transport configuration, and a disposalconfiguration；and a sieve. The sieve comprises a riser to retain a frame at a selecteddistanceabove a litter box, said frame supporting a mesh member having a perimeter anddefining a plurality of holes therethrough of sufficient size to permitgranules ofcat litter to pass through while retaining clumps of cat litter. A method ofremoving clumps of cat litter contaminated with waste material from a granularcat litter is also provided.
