PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition applied to mucous membrane capable of suppressing irritation to the mucous membrane, while having excellent washing effect.SOLUTION: A composition applied to mucous membrane includes (A) an alkyl sulfate ester type surfactant, and (B) at least one kind of surfactant selected from a group comprising imidazolinium betaine type amphoteric surfactants and fatty acid amide propyl betaine type amphoteric surfactants, and also includes, when being used, the component (A) so that its content is &ge3 wt.%, and the component (B) so that its content is 0.45-3.5 pts.wt. with respect to the 1 pt.wt. component (A).
