Various embodiments of a capsulotomyrepair device include a resistive-heatingelement comprising an electrically resistive, superelasticwire forming a loop between first andsecond ends of the superelastic wire. The firstand second ends of the loop may at least partiallyextend at an angle from a planar face defined bythe loop, to an insulating portion, to form a transitionalneck between the loop and the insulatingportion. The capsulotomy repair device may bepositioned in the eye relative to a capsularhexisperimeter to overlap tears in the capsularhexisperiemeter to remove the tears by forming an adjustedcapsularhexis perimeter by burning aroundthe tear.
