PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for changing the flower color of a flowering plant. SOLUTION: Th method for changing the flower color of flowering plant includes inserting a retrotransposon, which contains a base sequence having a sequence number of 4 or a base sequence having an identity of 60% or more with those sequences or hybridizing with those sequences under stringent conditions, to exon parts of either one or both of multiple alleles HZor HDof the flowering plant, provided that multiple alleles HDor HZcontrols the hydroxylation of 3',5' title as for the hydroxylation of a B ring in a precursor of flavonoid biosynthesis and is a gene related to the biosynthesis of delphinidin (Dpn).
