A liquid pharmaceutical composition comprising a mixture of native chitosan and a mixture medium for use in an antimicrobial treatment of a patient's tissue, in which treatment an effective amount of native chitosan is administered to the patient by spraying the composition onto the patient's tissue, and the mixture medium subsequently is allowed to evaporate to form a solid or gel-like film.
