Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von Wasser mit Chlordioxid (ClO2), wobei der Reaktionsraum (bevorzugt ein Rohrreaktor), in dem das ClO2 erzeugt wird, vollständig von dem zu behandelnden Wasser umgeben ist. Das im Reaktionsraum entstehende ClO2 wird aus dem Reaktionsraum direkt in das zu behandelnde Wasser gegeben. Der Leitfähigkeitswert in der den Reaktionsraum verlassenden Lösung kann gemessen werden.
