Provided is a suture needle configured so that the strength of the tip portion thereof where a sharp point is formed is ensured and so that resistance when the suture needle is passed through tissue is reduced. A suture needle having a triangular cross section and consisting of austenite stainless steel having a structure elongated in a fiber like form has: two first sloped surfaces (11) which are ground and which have a ridge (20) therebetween and one bottom surface (13) which is located between the two first sloped surfaces and which is ground. The ridge is formed to have: a first cutting edge (1) which is formed by the two intersecting first sloped surfaces (11) a ridge section (20) which is located closer to a body than the first cutting edge and where the first sloped surfaces (11) do not intersect and a second cutting edge (2) which is located closer to the front end side than the first cutting edge (1) and which is formed by two intersecting second sloped surfaces (12) which are ground the two second sloped surfaces (12) being formed on both sides of the first cutting edge (1). The length L2 of the first cutting edge is in the range of three to twenty times the length L1 of the second cutting edge (2) and the tip (3) of the second cutting edge (2) is located at a position offset from the center of the material.
