PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which has excellent blood vessel following properties and safety.SOLUTION: A guide wire 1 is equipped with a core part 2A made of a flexible, long article. The core part 2A includes a body part 3 formed on a proximal end side, and a flat plate part 5 formed on a distal end side. On the flat plate part 5, at least one first slit extending from one end to the other end side in a plate width direction is formed in a longitudinal direction, and at least one second slit extending from the other end to the one end side in the plate width direction is formed in the longitudinal direction. The first slit and the second slit are arranged alternately in the longitudinal direction of the flat plate part 5. In addition, the guide wire 1 is equipped with a coil part 6 set in a manner to cover the distal end side of the core part 2A.
