1. A control system for patients with diabetes mellitus, comprising an infusion pump with a configuration that allows delivering insulin to the patient; a glucose sensor with a configuration that allows you to measure the glucose concentration in the patient and give output signals corresponding to this glucose concentration; a controller receiving signals at least at least one of: a glucose sensor and a pump, while the controller configuration allows you to send signals to the pump to deliver the amount of insulin determined by the controller with using a control based on predictive models based on the patient’s desired glucose concentration, the amount of insulin injected and the patient’s glucose measurement, the controller configuration allows delivery of at least a basal amount of insulin each time a patient starts a manual bolus insulin injection and sensor reading or a glucose measurement result corresponds to at least a first threshold during a first time period. 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the first threshold comprises about 120 mg of glucose per dL and the first period comprises about 45 minutes. The system of claim 2, wherein the glucose sensor comprises at least one of a sensor for occasional glucose measurement and a sensor for continuous glucose measurement. A method for managing diabetes in a patient using an insulin pump, a controller, and at least one glucose sensor, the method comprising measuring a patient's glucose concentration using a glucose sensor to obtain multiple glucose measurements; calculation of the amount of insulin administered1.
