A device (10) for securing a spinal rod to the spine. The device includes an elongated spinal rod (16) configured to be implanted adjacent to the spinal column of a patient spanning across several vertebral bodies. The device (10) also includes at least one fixation element (12) for engaging vertebral bodies at a number of vertebral levels, each of the fixation elements (12) having a vertebral engaging portion (24) and a stem portion (22) extending from the vertebral engaging portion (24). A ball ring (18) having an opening (80) extending through the center of the ball ring (18). The ball ring (18) further includes a through slot (82) so as to be compressible and expandable about a central axis extending through the center of the ball ring (18). The opening (80) is adapted to receive the spinal rod (16). The device (10) further includes a set screw (20) and a rod connector (14).Linvention concerne un dispositif (10) servant à fixer une tige vertébrale sur la colonne vertébrale. Ce dispositif comprend une tige vertébrale de forme allongée (16) conçue pour être implantée de façon adjacente à la colonne vertébrale dun patient à travers plusieurs corps vertébraux. Ce dispositif (10) comprend également au moins un élément de fixation (12) destiné à entrer en prise avec des corps vertébraux à un certain nombre de niveaux vertébraux, chacun des éléments de fixation (12) présentant une section de prise vertébrale (24) et une section de corps (22) sétendant de la section de prise vertébrale (24), ainsi quun anneau (18) pourvu dune ouverture (80) sétendant à travers le centre de cet anneau (18). Ledit anneau (18) présente également une fente traversante (82) le rendant compressible et expansible autour dun axe central sétendant à travers le centre dudit anneau (18). Louverture (80) est adaptée pour recevoir la tige vertébrale (16). Ledit dispositif (10) comprend également une vis de pression (20) et un raccord à tige (14).
