Computational systems and methods are described for identifying new type-ll bacteriocins using a systemic consensus formula and other related criteria. Newly identified type-ll bacteriocin peptides are tested experimentally and show potent microbiocidal activities. Further provided are the sequences of Newly identified type-ll bacteriocin peptides, and a method of treating an infection in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a peptide comprising an amino acid sequence disclosed.L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés informatiques permettant d'identifier de nouvelles bactériocines de type ll à l'aide d'une formule de consensus systémique et d'autres critères associés.
