PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition comprising a poly (pyrrolidone) macrocycle, an oligomer and a low molecular weight polymer as a masking agent for biological materials. A composition containing a cyclic amide, a cyclic urea, a cyclic aminoamide, or a cyclic aminourea compound represented by the formula (1) as a fluorescent agent, wherein the compound of the formula (I) has a wavelength of 200 to 385 nm. A composition which fluoresces at least 10 times the value of the basic compound after excitation and whose emission is in the visible and near infrared region of 400 to 850 nm and QH2 has no residue such as a cyclic amide.
