The disclosed embodiments include an aquarium having a low-current filtrationsystem. Inone aspect, an apparatus includes a tank having a closed end and an open end,a base that receivesand supports the closed end, and a lid removably positioned over the open end.The apparatus alsoincludes a filter base disposed onto an interior surface of the closed end,and a filter housing thatengages a housing support structure disposed onto the filter base. The filterhousing includes afilter cartridge separating a first chamber from a second chamber, a pumpdisposed within thesecond chamber, and a reservoir disposed within the second chamber at a distalend of the filterhousing. The reservoir includes an outlet structure having multiple dischargelocations, and isconnected to the pump across an elongated tube.
