A rod assembly for use with a surgical instrument, said rod assembly comprising: a rod； end effector； articulation connecting said end effector to said rod； trigger actuator configured to move relative to said end effector； hinge actuator articulating rotation of said end effector around said articulation； a clutch ring configured to selectively engage the specified hinge drive with the specified starting drive to transfer the movement of the specified starting drive to the specified hinge drive. 2. The shaft assembly according to claim 1, wherein said clutch ring extends around said trigger actuator, said clutch ring being rotatable around said trigger actuator between the engaged position and the disengaged position, said clutch ring functionally connecting said trigger actuator and said hinge drive when said clutch ring is in said engaged position, and wherein said hinge drive does not have a functional connection with said starting actuator when said clutch ring is in said disengaged position. 3.
