PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decision system for an electronic endoscope, which system decides it automatically in an endoscope having a proper imaging system made different by a distance to an observation site, what observation system is proper at present.SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system 10 comprises: a color imaging system (using a processor device 12) for imaging an object at a relatively spaced position and a co-focal image photographing system (using a processor device 13) for photographing an observation portion by applying an insertion portion tip to an observation site. On the basis of a histogram of a color image and a histogram of a co-focal image, it is automatically decided what imaging system takes a proper photography, and not only the imaging system to be used but also the image to be displayed on a monitor 14 is switched.
