The invention relates to a synergistic combination of trivalent chromium, biotin and American ginseng, which is effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It also relates to dietetic compositions which include such combination that are appropriate for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in obese patients.
