The invention relates to a broiler chicken container (1, 101, 201, 301, 401) which is designed and equipped to receive and hold broiler chickens, comprising a base (11, 111, 211, 311, 411) and lateral walls (12, 13 112, 113 212, 213 312, 313 412, 413) which define an inner volume. The broiler chicken container (1, 101, 201, 301, 401) is designed and equipped so as to be stackable with broiler chicken containers (1, 101, 201, 301, 401) of the same type. The invention is characterized in that at least one support column (14, 114, 214, 314, 414) runs from the base (11, 111, 211, 311, 411) upwards through the inner volume. The support column (14, 114, 214, 314, 414) is arranged at a distance from all of the lateral walls (12, 13 112, 113 212, 213 312, 313 412, 413) so that space is provided for at least one broiler chicken between the support column (14, 114, 214, 314, 414) and any of the lateral walls (12, 13 112, 113 212, 213 312, 313 412, 413), and the support column (14, 114, 214, 314, 414) has a height so as to support the base (11, 111, 211, 311, 411) of another broiler chicken container (1, 101, 201, 301, 401) which is stacked on top of the broiler chicken container (1, 101, 201, 301, 401). The invention further relates to a unit comprising at least two of the aforementioned broiler chicken containers (1, 101, 201, 301, 401).
