A hospital or nursing home patient fall prevention system comprising sensors for detection of patient attempting to get off bed which includes weight sensor along the bed's edge, motion detector based on infra-red beam interruption and a body inclination detecting sensor. When all 3 of these sensors signal that the patient is getting off bed the fall prevention system is activated and a notification is sent to nurse's station. At this point a console is deployed which is mounted under a bed upon which moves forward a carriage onto which is installed a turn actuator turning an arm so that said arm pushes forward a rod, through a turnable head, at the end of which is mounted a guardrail with soft sleeve enclosing its structural member which is bent to protect a patient from 3 sides. At the end of said arm's turn the rod is positioned vertically and the guardrail is in its intended deployed position, while the hospital personnel is notified. Optionally said console can be mounted on a wall.
