This method for producing a gel composition is provided with a first step for preparing a dispersion in which a polymer including an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid unit is dispersed in an anhydrous polyhydric alcohol, and a second step for mixing the dispersion and an anhydrous polyhydric alcohol to prepare a polyhydric alcohol solution of the polymer.
