A system for increasing the number of focal points in artificial eye lenses has a light source that produces a pulsed light via a beam controller that shapes the light beam according to the type of the application and properties of the zone plates that will be produced. A pulse controller conditions the light pulses according to the type of predetermined application and the zone plates that will be produced. A beam director directs the light to predetermined parts of the surface of the artificial eye lens where the zone plates will be produced. A focusing unit focuses the light beam by reducing its diameter. A scanning unit produces zone plates on the artificial eye lens by scanning the light beam on the predetermined parts of the surface of the artificial eye lens where the zone plates will be produced.6
