PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epidural space recognition device that can prevent an identification part from coming into contact with medical instruments such as needles or knives and being scratched or damaged by the instruments.SOLUTION: An epidural space recognition device 1 includes: a communication path 4c for bringing a needle connection port 4a into communication with a syringe connection port 4b a movable body moving path 4e coming into communication with the communication path 4c via a communication port 4f, and movably guiding a movable body 5 and a vent hole 4g for bringing the movable body moving path 4e into communication with the outside air. The communication path 4c and the movable body moving path 4e become a positive pressure state, by closing the vent hole 4g with the movable body 5 while air discharge is regulated at the side of a needle 2, and sending air from the side of a syringe 3.
