A further use may be a reduction in risk to a disease associated with function derived from a mature dental plaque biofilm. The invention also relates to the use of an effective amount of a small molecule inhibitor in cosmetics for the prevention of the maturation of dental biofilms. The present invention also relates to an oral composition comprising an effective amount of a small molecule inhibitor suitable for preventing the maturation of a dental plaque biofilm.
