"herbicide resistant rice". Rice plants with various sources of herbicide resistance that normally inhibit the enzyme ahas (acetohydroxyacid synthase - acetohydroxy acid synthase) are revealed. In addition to controlling red rice, many ahas inhibitor herbicides also effectively control other weeds that are common in rice fields. Many of these herbicides have residual activity, so a treatment can control both existing weeds and later weeds.
