Compositions and kits for inhibiting an allergic response against an allergenicprotein are disclosed. The compositions comprise a eukaryotic cell expressionvector containing nucleotide sequences encoding an allergenic protein or apolypeptide that comprises an antigenic epitope of said allergenic protein;and an allergenic protein or a polypeptide that comprises an antigenic epitopeof the allergenic protein. The kits comprise a first container which comprisesa eukaryotic cell expression vector containing nucleotide sequences encodingan allergenic protein or a polypeptide that comprises an antigenic epitope ofthe allergenic protein and a second container which comprises an allergenicprotein or a polypeptide that comprises an antigenic epitope of said allergenicprotein. Compositions and kits for inhibiting an allergic response againstan flea allergenic protein; a feline allergenic protein; a canine allergenicprotein; a dust mite allergenic protein; a peanut allergenic protein; a Japanesecedar allergenic protein; and a blomia tropicalis allergenic protein are disclosed.Methods if using such compositions and kits are also disclosed.
