A system and method for producing a near-infrared sensitive luminescent materials beyond 1000 nm is disclosed. The method includes reacting K2[PtCl4] and cyanoxime ligands in an aqueous solution to achieve dark-green one-dimensional coordination-polymeric materials having a molecular formula of PtL2, wherein L are the cyanoxime ligands having a molecular formula of NC—C(═NOH)—R with R being an electron withdrawing group such as: N′N-diethylacetamide, N-piperidine, N-morpholyl, 2-pyridine, benzoyl, or N-pyrrolidine.
