PURPOSE: A copper compound with a crop protecting function is provided to ensure excellent antibacterial function and dispersion, adhesion, and storage properties. CONSTITUTION: A copper compound with a crop protecting function contains a suspension of layered double hydroxides. The copper compound contains an antibacterial compound introduced between the copper layered double hydroxide layers. The antibacterial compound is an organic acid or amino acid containing carboxy groups. A method for preparing the copper compound comprises a step of adding an alkali solution to a copper salt solution.
