A medical device has a distal member with a configuration that can be changedbymeans of a control handle with a control assembly employing a rotational cam,a shaft, and apulley, where the rotational cam is rotationally mounted on a portion of thecontrol handle forrotation by a user. The rotational cam operates on the shaft to move itproximally or distallydepending on the direction of rotation which in turn rotates the pulley todraw or release a pullerwire to change the configuration of the distal member of the medical dvice. The shaft is orientedalong a diameter of the control handle. The shaft has two ends which extendsthrough two axialguide slots in the portion of the control handle to sit two opposing helicaltracks formed on innersurface of the rotational cam. The guide slots are parallel with thelongitudinal axisof the controlhande and therefore maintain the shafts diametrical orientation as therotational cam is rotated tomove the shaft proximall or distally. Actuation of the puller wire by means ofthe control assemblycan result in a change of the distal members configuration, includingdeflection, contraction and/orexpansion.
