Provided is an absorbent article for pets that enables the front surface layer side of the absorbent article to be maintained in a folded or rounded state or the like in the longitudinal direction thereof so that the front surface layer side acts as an interior of the absorbent article, without the provision of a new separate member. This absorbent article for pets is equipped with a front surface layer (2), a back surface layer (3), and an absorbent body (4). The absorbent article (1) is formed in a rectangular shape having a first end portion (11), a second end portion (12), and a pair of side portions. When the absorbent article is wrapped around the waist of a pet, the first end portion (11) is arranged on the body of the pet, and the second end portion (12) side is detachably attached to the outer surface of the first end portion (11). The absorbent article is further equipped with an engaging member (7) that is arranged on the outer surface side of the first end portion (11), and that can engage with the inner surface of the second end portion (12). At least a part of the outer surface of the back surface layer (3) is formed from a member with which the engaging member (7) can engage. A low rigidity area (16) is formed towards the second end portion (12) side of the section on the first end portion (11) where the engaging member (7) is arranged.
