The actuating device includes a piercing carriage a receptacle for the injection unit, and an injection carriage which can be displaced relative to the piercing carriage. The injection carriage has an actuating plunger for acting on a plunger of the injection unit. The piercing carriage and the injection carriage can be actuated by a force application means at least in order to carry out a piercing stroke and an injection stroke, and a piercing depth (tE) of the injection unit can be set. For this purpose, the receptacle is mounted on the piercing carriage adjustably in the injection direction (R).
