The composition of herbal antiseptic soap consisting of 20% alcoholic extract of Curcuma longa containing 90%curcumin as an active antimicrobial agent in combination with 20% aqueous extract of Glycyrrha glabra containing 50 % glycyrrehetinic acid as a natural wound healing and foaming agent and 10% aqueous extract of Citrus limonia containing 60% limonin as a natural cleanser and 10 % glycerine and 05 % glycine as natural chelating agents is a non toxic and eco friendly product for effective human skin care and provides an antiseptic herbal soap with pH of 6.8 which is almost near to skin pH. Human skin has a mild acidic ph due to the sebum which contains fatty acids. This acidic layer will protect the skin form invasion of micro organisms and UV radiation from the sun. The use of alkaline soap will neutralize the acidity of the skin and natural protection of skin will be lost. At a pH of 7 or more the curcumine loses its activity and will be precipitated out. So to protect the biological activity of curcumine it should be incorporated with an acidic ph soap base. The present invention is an antiseptic herbal soap with good antimicrobial property without causing any skin irritation. This formulation proves to be a vital alternative for the synthetic and semi synthetic antiseptic soaps with neutral p H. The increase in environmental and health hazards in the manufacture of soap and its use throughout world is a major concern. This invention was made possible while investigating the alternative to the synthetic and semi synthetic soap.
