AN ENGAGEMENT MEMBER (42) IS SLIDINGLY DISPOSED RELATIVE TO THE NEEDLE SHIELD (102) FOR ENGAGING THE HUB (10) TO THE NEEDLE SHIELD (102) IN THE NON-SHIELDING POSITION. A RETAINER (32) OPERATIVELY COUPLES TO THE ENGAGEMENT MEMBER (42) AND IS POSITIONED TO PREVENT DISENGAGEMENT OF THE ENGAGEMENT MEMBER (42) FROM THE HUB (10) IN THE NON-SHIELDING POSITION, AND ENABLES REMOVAL OF THE HUB (10) FROM THE NEEDLE SHIELD (102) BY DISENGAGING THE ENGAGEMENT MEMBER (42) FROM THE HUB (10) WHEN THE NEEDLE SHIELD (102) MOVES TO THE SHIELDING POSITION.
