The present disclosure is directed to methods and apparatuses for embedding a scent in a fishing lure. In a general example embodiment, a device for adding a scent to a fishing lure includes a body including an inner space configured to be isolated from an outside environment and a container for a scented liquid, an attachment mechanism configured to suspend the fishing lure within the inner space of the body, a heating mechanism configured to raise the temperature of the scented liquid to create steam, and a control unit configured to cause at least one of: (i) a pressurization mechanism to increase pressure within the inner space to cause the steam to add a scent to the fishing lure； or (ii) a charge to be applied to the fishing lure to cause the steam to add the scent to the fishing lure.
