PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinch machine and a method for operating the same, capable of stably pruning seedings to be pruned to a predetermined height without damaging the seedings and preventing the pruned seedings from falling around a cutting blade and in gaps among the seedings to make it possible to certainly and easily collect the pruned seedings.SOLUTION: The pinch machine for pruning the tips of seedings includes an air suction opening for applying a suction force to the seedings to align the orientation of the seedings in a constant direction, arranged adjacent to a cutter for cutting the tips of seedings.
