The invention relates to a treatment appliance comprising a device generating an electric or electromagnetic field, the electric or electromagnetic field being formed between a probe and a human or animal body or a metal. The invention is characterised in that the field voltage and current intensity inside the electrical or electromagnetic field only increase from a low field voltage and current intensity, over a time interval, to a higher, optionally pre-set field voltage and current intensity, when approaching the the body or the metal.
