A surgical tool comprising a first connecting element, a contact element and conductive elements is disclosed. The contact element is configured to contact the tissue of the patient. The conductive elements extend from the connecting element to the contact elements. The conductive elements each have an insulating outer layer. The insulating outer layers isolate the conductive elements from one another. The first coupling element is coupled to and receives a single phase stimulation pulse from the second coupling elements on the modular stimulation module. The modular stimulation module is configured to be coupled to the tool and other tools through the second connection element.
