An endoscope has: a distal end hard section having formed therein first and second grooves extending from the outer periphery to the inside, the distal end hard section also having formed therein a through-hole which provides communication between the first groove and the second groove a forceps rising base disposed in the first groove and having formed therein a fitting groove extending in the direction in which the through-hole extends an arm having a columnar section extending from the second groove to the first groove through the through-hole, the columnar section having a fitting section which is formed on one side thereof and which is fitted in the fitting groove, the columnar section also having a connection section which is formed on the side thereof opposite the fitting section and which is connected to a forceps operation wire and a seal disposed on the outer periphery of the columnar section of the arm and integrally sealing, in a watertight manner, both a first gap which is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the columnar section of the arm and the inner peripheral surface of the through-hole in the distal end hard section, and a second gap which is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the columnar section of the arm and the inner peripheral surface of the fitting groove in the forceps rising base.
