A food processing vat system comprises a vat 7 defining an inside space, a vent 60 attached to the vat 7 and fluidly connecting the inside space of the vat 7 to the ambient so as to maintain a pressure within the vat 7 at an ambient pressure, and a nozzle 91 configured to convey a cleaning fluid therethrough and mounted to at least one of the vent 60 and the vat 7. The nozzle 91 has an opening that is positioned with respect to the vent 60 so as to direct the cleaning fluid into the vent 60 while the vent 60 remains attached to the vat 7.
