PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of a small animal rearing cage which is conventionally a bottomed structure with a floor face of plastics or the like, which generates odor of excrement of small animals in the cage if no periodical cleaning is possible or if rearing is in a highly airtight room even with periodical cleaning, and which prevents underground burrows because of a plastic bottom for hamsters or the like that habitually live by making burrows underground.SOLUTION: A bottomless round rearing cage is set on top of a flowerpot for a foliage plant or the like. As a result, organic matters of excrement, etc., of small animals are quickly dissolved by soil microorganisms, with generation of odors suppressed and, with need of cleaning/removal eliminated. The plant can grow upward through the upper holes of the rearing cage. Also, by covering the upper part of the soil thick with a bedding material (wood chips, etc.), making underground burrows is made possible for small animals like hamsters having habit of making burrows underground.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT【課題】従来の小動物飼育ケージは、床面がプラスチック等の底がある構造となっている。しかしながら、定期的に清掃ができない場合、また定期的に清掃をしていても気密性の高い室内で飼育する場合、ケージ内の小動物等の排せつ物等の悪臭が発生する。また、ハムスター等は本来地下に巣を作り生活する習性をもつが、プラスチック等の底があるため地下に巣穴を掘ることができない。【解決手段】観葉植物等の植木鉢の上部に、底のない丸い飼育ケージを設置する。それにより、小動物の排せつ物等の有機物は速やかに土壌微生物により分解され、悪臭の発生が抑えられるとともに、清掃・除去の必要性がなくなる。飼育ケージの上部の穴から植物は上部に生育できる。また、土壌の上部に敷材(木材チップなど)を厚く敷きつめることで、ハムスター等の地下に巣穴を作る習性をもつ小動物用に地下巣穴を設置もできる。【選択図】図1
