PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insect repellent in which excellent insect repellent effect on a mosquito or the like lasts for a long time, and which can be manufactured at low cost.SOLUTION: Momordica charantia is cultivated, and the leaves and stems thereof are collected to be used as a raw material for an insect repellent. The collected raw material is reduced into powder so that particles of the powder have a diameter of nanometer size (less than 1 &mu；m), and an ingredient extracted from the powder is included in the insect repellent. Specifically, by cultivating Momordica charantia while preventing it from budding (shooting out buds), nutrients, which are normally supposed to be consumed to form the blossoms/fruits, are concentrated in the stems and leaves, which makes it possible to improve the quality of the raw material of the insect repellent.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1【課題】長時間に渡って蚊等に対して優れた防虫効果を維持する防虫剤であり、且つ低コストで生産することのできる防虫剤を提供すること。【解決手段】ツルレイシ（momorudica charantia）を育成し、当該ツルレイシの葉及び茎を採取して原料とする。採取された原料の粒径がナノサイズ（１μｍ未満）となるように粉末化し、当該粉末から抽出された成分を防虫剤に含有させたこと。特に、ツルレイシの着蕾（蕾がつくこと）を防止して育成することにより、本来であれば花・実を形成するために消費されるはずの栄養成分が茎及び葉に集約され、防虫剤の原料の質をより高めることができる。【選択図】図１
