An agricultural vehicle train includes a tractor, a rotary cutter, and a hitch assembly coupling the rotary cutter to the tractor. The hitch assembly includes a first connection interface attaching the hitch assembly to the tractor anda second connection interface attaching the hitch assembly to the rotary cutter. The hitch assembly includes a suspension element coupled between the first and second connection interfaces to mitigate force transfer resulting from relative vertical movement； a mounting plate forming at least a portion of the second connection interface； and a pivot plate with a first end coupled to the first connection interface and a second end coupled to the suspension element. The pivot plate further includes a pivot element such that the pivot plate pivots about the pivot element relative to the mounting plate.
