An identification tag (1a, 1b) adapted to form a strip of tags is disclosed. The tag includes a front portion (4) and a rear portion, an at least partially flexible portion extending from at, or adjacent, the rear portion over a hollow body portion (2) of the tag and towards the front portion. An end portion of the flexible portion includes a downwardly depending male tag portion which, in use, is engageable with a female tag portion provided towards the front portion. A capsule (15a, 15b), which may accommodate an RFID component, forms part of the front portion of the tag. The capsule is engageable with the hollow body portion of a successive tag such that a plurality of tags can be successively engaged to form a strip of tags. During tagging, the capsule of a tag is separated from the tag from which it originated and is retained in the successive tag to which it is engaged.
