The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating inflammatory allergic diseases containing a persimmon tree bark extract as an active component. The persimmon tree bark extract of the present invention controls the expression of TNF-&alpha and IL-1&beta, which are inflammatory causing cytokine genes, and the activity of NF-kB which is a transcription factor.
