A fishing rod with a spring mechanism situated inside the barrel 1 of the rod, used to propel a fishing line when casting. The fishing rod is a hollow tube with a rear screw cap 11. The thrust mechanism comprises a cushion spring 3and a tension spring 5, a spring winding spool 7 with winding system 9, 10, and a spring biased locking mechanism 15 with pin trigger 16, 18. The spring mechanism tension can be set to different levels to achieve the desired distance of propulsion of the fishing line, as indicated by a set of locking pins 19. The apparatus can only be used when the rod is fully constructed; the spring mechanism is deactivated if the front section of rod is removed. In another embodiment the thrust mechanism is set by pushing the front section of rod back into the main barrel of the rod. In other embodiments, the thrust mechanism does not use a spring, and instead may use an electrical or battery operated power source, compressed air canisters or hydraulic pressure.
