The present investigation concerns the development of floating microspheres of pentoxifylline and thereby increases patient compliance, reduced frequency of administration and increase therapeutic efficacy. Four batches of floating microspheres were fabricated containing Pentoxifylline, calcium silicate, eudragit and other excipients. All the batches were prepared by modified emulsion solvent diffusion method. The evaluation was done on the floating microspheres which include particle size analysis, angle of repose, tapped density, compressibility, percentage yield, percentage drug entrapment, floating ability and in vitro release studies. No appreciable difference was observed in the extent of degradation of product, which were stored at various temperatures. The formulation F4 containing calcium silicate (20 g) showed slower release of drug as compared to other batch formulations. The in-vitro release data was treated with mathematical equations. The release follows first order kinetics. Thus the microspheres formulation F4 containing drug and calcium silicate (1:4)
